Victor "Vic" Frank Kerns III, best known for his zest for life and love of all things music, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Wednesday August 9, 2017, in his hometown of Arlington, TX at the age of 51. With his wife Becky by his side, holding his hand and playing songs from their wedding, Vic left this world enjoying two of his greatest loves, his wife and music. His children Kaleigh, Tyler and Trent had also been by his side frequently during his last two months, supporting their dad with their love and a few laughs. His best friend since childhood, Richard Spiva, also sat vigil almost daily and brought a special gleam to Vic's eyes with each visit and was a rock to the family. Vic's longtime and deeply cherished friend, Paul "PJ" LaMunyon, who performed Vic and Becky's wedding ceremony, will also officiate Vic's Celebration of Life. The family, and certainly Vic, wouldn't want it any other way.

In the last year and a half, doing things "his own way" Vic fought a valiant battle with cancer. Vic was a charmer to all he met and loved. The ultimate hippie and free spirit. He loved rock and roll and supported the local music scene for many years. One of his greatest joys was watching live bands and connecting with the band members after the show. He enjoyed talking about lyrics and the meanings behind the songs. Often asked if he himself was a musician, his repeated answer was always "No, just an aging lover of music." Vic took fashion cues from no one. His signature every day look was all his own and compared to the likes of Johnny Depp.

Vic was born December 2, 1965 in Fort Worth, Texas. He was a graduate from Arlington High School and at the time of his death a Business Development Representative for Hutton Communications. Vic,,, having the "gift of gab," was made for sales. He was successful at his job and even during the sickest of times had every desire to get on the phone and service his clients. On May 11, 2017, he married Becky Smith, his high school sweetheart, in New Orleans, Louisiana. Vic had an affinity for New Orleans because it was a place he could be free, enjoying a cold "Big Ass Beer," a smooth smoke and breathing in the history of the city in all her glory.

As far back as childhood, Vic showed a passion for people. He made friends easily and had many friends from early childhood that were still on speed dial to this day. He was a philosopher of sorts, and loved sparking a conversation for conversation's sake. He was a witty individual and if you were fortunate enough to get locked into a conversation, it could go on for hours. He loved collecting promotional vinyl and was especially attracted to the band Kiss. If you dropped by the house unexpectedly you might even get a sneak peak of him in his beloved Kiss pajamas.
Vic is survived by his wife Becky Russell-Kerns of Arlington, TX; His four children: Trent Frymire of Azle, TX; Tyler Kerns of Arlington, Texas; Kaleigh Kerns of Arlington, Texas and Adam Kerns of Malcomb, IL and his step-mother, Kristine Kerns of Arlington, TX. Vic had one cherished grandson by his daughter Kaleigh, Jaxon Riot of Arlington, TX and one step daughter by his wife Becky, Taylor Russell of Arlington, TX. He is preceded in death by his mother Lois Campbell, father Victor Frank Kerns Jr. and his grandparents. Vic also leaves behind many loving friends and extended family.

Visitation will be Wednesday, August 16, 2017 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Moore Funeral Home.
A funeral is scheduled for 2:00 at Moore Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, August 19, 2017.
A gathering to follow at Gilligan's Bar and Grill.
All are welcome to attend and celebrate Vic's life. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to www.gofundme.com/campaignbelieve. The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Arlington Memorial Hospital for their care and dedication.
